Those staining the maple rim to match the neck (dark walnut seems to be popular) are you using water-based walnut stain or oil-based walnut stain? Pics are always appreciated. Thanks.

I’d do an oil based because the skin will be wet when you tack it to the rim and it could put runs or marks on the water based stain.
