I over tightened a head and the skin ha s pulled away from the wire. Is there a away to reattach it?
if I want to by a new head where can I get one? Are the minstrel banjos a standard size?Hi Miles,
You may be able to fix the skin by taking it off and squeezing the metal hoop art back together, clamping it back onto the skin.

I’ll go ahead and add instructions on how to replace the head below for you or anyone that may need to swap the skin:
1. Remove the hooks
2. Remove the trim ring (note orientation of the ring so you can easily align with hooks later)
3. Remove the old skin
4. Run new skin under tap water for a few seconds. Pat dry with a towel. No need to soak the skin, just make it pliable.
5.put new skin on and hoop.
6. Tighten hooks by hand in crisscross pattern, like tightening lugnuts when changing a car tire.
7. When skin is wrinkle free and hooks are all as tight as you can get by hand, set drum aside to dry for 12+ hours.
8. After skin is fully dry you can carefully adjust the tension further with a screwdriver. Do not over tighten. These are generally low-tension drums so keep that in mind.
