    I’d like to setup my banjo for Aquila’a standard nylgut sets and will need to appropriately slot the bridge and nut. I’ll measure my kit.

    I grew up playing the violin, so have some experience with friction pegs. I agree they can work well if set up correctly.

    I notice a few makers of gourd and early style banjos (Jason Romero, Pete Ross, Jim Hartel) offer geared violin peg tuners, though I’ll have to ask them how they handle the fifth string peg.

    There are at least three companies offering geared violin pegs: Wittner, Knilling, and Pegheds. Wittner offers a set for Flamenco guitars that I believe could work well for banjos.
