ParticipantWere there headstock options on the openback banjos in the past? They all seem to be ‘minstrel’ style. I can’t seem to find the headstock/neck options for those kits. Looking for a fretted openback with a ‘mountain’ style headstock and neck like in the pic here.

KeymasterI sold the bent rim kits with peghead options for about one year and had not a lot of success. I am currently focusing on the minstrel neck and will consider offering other neck options in the future. Is there a certain neck option you would like to see on a bent rim kit?
Thank you!November 18, 2024 at 5:58 am #5897freeman
ParticipantI would like a bent rim one with a fretted ‘Appalachian’ style headstock/neck like the one that’s offered in the Mountain Banjo Kit.
FYI I’m really happy with how my fretless minstrel gourd banjo came out by the way! Thanks!

KeymasterI just checked out your gourd post on the other page, looks really nice, thank you for sharing freeman.
The Appalachian neck could definitely be an offering on a 12” rim in the future.
I’m planning to start the year 2025 with just the Appalachian necks and minstrel necks and maybe a third- I’m thinking the Banza neck, If there is interest I will make all 3 neck types available across the mountain kit, gourd kit and rim kits. I’m trying to focus in on making less neck types so I can build up a stock and then be able to ship out orders much faster.April 7, 2025 at 1:09 am #6261rico47635
ParticipantI am not a fan of the minstrel style headstock either. I like the mountain style headstock too. Hopefully you will make some open back kits with more than just the minstrel style headstock.

KeymasterWorking on that!
Building a large stock of minstrel banjo necks.
Then I’ll build a large stock of another model and so on.
When I have a certain number on hand I’ll have them for sale.
All of this is to make my life easier, to maintain consistent sales year round and to always have kits in stock for quick shipment to customers.
Thank youMay 9, 2025 at 4:45 am #6307st3shu
ParticipantHey Brian! Any updates on the supply of different headstock types? I’m holding out for a banza-style one haha 🙂
