A hunter friend has offered me some rawhide deerskin, and I plan on putting together a Carver kit (Minstrel, I think) in the new year. He says there’s fur on it, but it’s otherwise untreated.
I’ve asked for as close to the belly as possible, as I heard that the thinner skin is better. Good?
What do I need to do to get this skin banjo-ready? Shave off the fur, but what else? Any other tips?
