Scalloped Minstrel Banjo

A unique scalloped fretboard adds a new range of playability. The advantage is that it allows you to play full chords easily while still keeping that fretless feel. Press the string down exactly as you would play a fretted banjo. The combination of the scallops and the nylon strings make playing very easy on the fingertips. Overall weight is about five pounds- easy to carry and easy to hold and play for hours on end.

All parts of this banjo were lovingly handcrafted in a small Indiana workshop. I steamed and hand bent this 1/2″ thick rim from white oak. The skin is tacked tightly into place making the sound crisp and loud. It is a pleasure to play a one-of-a-kind instrument: don’t miss out on this one.
